Extended Day Teacher

Job Responsibilities

• Record Keeping and Reporting
• On-going Monitoring/Self-assessment
• Plan and implement learning experiences
• Establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment
• Support the social and emotional development of children
• Encourage the involvement of the families of the children in a Head Start program and support the development of relationships between children and their families

Job Requirements

• A High School Diploma
• Able to lift a child weighing 40 pounds, 20 times a day if needed
• Basic computer literacy in email usage, word processing, and internet navigation

Additional Information

• Hours: 12 pm to 5:30 pm
• Pay Rate: $16.35 (non-bilingual) and $16.80 (bilingual)
• Center Location: 310 Augusta Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879

Pre-Hire Requirements

• Two Valid IDs
• Two Reference Letters
• Physical exams and TB Tests
• Fingerprint Screening (CHRI)
• Background Checks (CARI)
• Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation

Pre-Hire Documents

• Must attend the four days of mandatory New Employee Orientation Training at South Amboy Center - 310 Augusta Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879

About the Role

This position serves as an Extended Day Teacher for a Head Start and/or Early Head Start center. The Extended Day Teacher will work collaboratively with the Teacher to ensure the successful operation of a classroom of children following the Head Start/Early Head Start operating day. They will also work with a team of other classroom Teachers and family members to implement the curriculum to achieve outcomes for children of all abilities.
