Extended Day Staff Member

Position Overview

Our Lady of Peace Catholic School is seeking a dependable, caring, and student-centered Extended Day Staff Member to support our after-school programming. This position plays an important role in providing a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for students at the end of the school day.

Primary Responsibilities

• Supervise students during after-school programming from approximately 2:45–5:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
• Help ensure the safety, well-being, and positive behavior of all students in the program.
• Support daily routines, including student check-in, snack, homework time, indoor and outdoor play, structured activities, and dismissal.
• Build positive and appropriate relationships with students.
• Auxiliary in planning or leading simple games, activities, crafts, or enrichment opportunities.
• Help maintain a calm, respectful, and organized environment.
• Maintain oversight during transitions, bathroom breaks, outdoor play, and parent pick-up.
• Communicate respectfully and professionally with students, families, and school staff.
• Follow school policies and procedures related to student safety, supervision, behavior, and emergency response.
• Assist with basic cleanup and organization of Extended Day spaces.
• Work collaboratively with the Extended Day Administrator, school office, and other Extended Day staff.
• Support the Catholic mission, values, and community life of Our Lady of Peace Catholic School.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, coaching, parish, or youth program setting preferred.
• Ability to supervise groups of students in a safe, calm, and positive manner.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliability, punctuality, and consistency.
• Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
• Ability to follow directions, routines, and school procedures.
• Comfort working with students of various ages.
• Ability to respond appropriately to student needs, conflicts, and behavior concerns.
• Willingness to support the mission and values of Catholic education.
• Completion of required background check, safe environment training, and any other required school or Archdiocesan requirements.
