About the Role
St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic School is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Extended Care Aide to support students in the school's extended care program. The Extended Care Aide assists in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment before and/or after school while supporting the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development of students in accordance with the mission of Catholic education.
Responsibilities
- Supervise students enrolled in the extended care program before and/or after school
- Provide a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for students
- Monitor student behavior and promote appropriate conduct consistent with school expectations
- Assist with homework time, educational activities, games, and recreational opportunities
- Facilitate age-appropriate activities that encourage student engagement and social interaction
- Maintain accurate attendance records and monitor student arrivals and departures
- Communicate professionally with parents, guardians, school staff, and administration
- Ensure student safety by following school policies, emergency procedures, and health protocols
- Assist with snack distribution and clean-up as needed
- Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of program spaces and materials
- Address minor student concerns and report significant incidents to the Extended Care Director or administration
- Support the mission and values of St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic School through positive interactions with students and families
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Extended Care Director or Principal
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, or recreational setting preferred
- Ability to supervise and engage groups of students in a positive manner
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and dependability
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and parents
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
- Successful completion of required background checks, Safe Environment training, and Archdiocesan compliance requirements
