Expressive Arts Therapist - Full Time

Pembroke Hospital is a 120-bed acute care, inpatient behavioral health facility located south of Boston in Pembroke, MA. Situated on 26 acres, we offer inpatient and partial hospitalization treatment to teens, adults, and older adults. Our services are designed to assess, stabilize, and treat patients by addressing their primary symptoms and problems.

About the role

The Activity Therapist is an important member of Pembroke Hospital's inpatient multidisciplinary treatment team, providing expressive arts therapy, psychoeducational groups, and recreational activities on our inpatient psychiatric units.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial activity therapy assessment to develop appropriate treatment goals
• Facilitate groups on the inpatient psychiatric units
• Complete group documentation and communicate with other members of the treatment team via treatment planning and team meetings
• Provide education to Mental Health Associates through both formal and informal means to ensure effective and appropriate therapeutic group facilitation
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in a related field and working toward or has already obtained a certification in the fields of expressive, music, art, recreation, occupational, or physical therapy
• OR Bachelor's degree in recreational or expressive therapy and one of the following certifications: Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CTRS), Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC), Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC), or other Certified Expressive Therapist modality

Schedule

• Full time, 40 hours per week
• Requires working one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) per week
• Typical schedules: Tuesday - Saturday or Sunday - Thursday
