Eligibility
You may be eligible for a placement if you are:
- A secondary school student aged 14 years or older
- Completing a Certificate III or higher with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO)
- Enrolled at a university
All placements must relate directly to course requirements or school career education programs.
Students must be covered by public liability and personal accident insurance through their recognized educational institution.
Due to the number of applications received, priority is given to students and institutions located within the Sunshine Coast area.
Placement Information
Placement duration varies depending on the type of study:
- High School – 5 days
- Vocational / Registered Training Organisation (RTO) - 40 hours (5 x 8-hour days)
- University – Hours are dependent on course requirements.
Opportunities depend on Council’s operational availability of the relevant business areas.
All work experience placements are unpaid. Students are responsible for arranging their own transport to and from the placement location.
Special Requirements
Some roles have special requirements such as the General Construction Induction (White) card, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) or Working With Children (Blue) card. It is the students' responsibility to provide all requested special requirements.
