Export Compliance Specialist

About the role

The Fountain Group is seeking an experienced Export Control Classification & Compliance Specialist for a prominent global technology company. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with a background in Export Control, Trade Compliance, Customs, ECCN, HTS, or ITAR.

This is a 1-Year Contract position located in Spring, TX, with a hybrid work arrangement requiring a minimum of 2 days onsite. The pay is up to $28/hour.

Responsibilities

• Classify products under EAR, ECCN, HTS (Harmonized System), and ITAR regulations to ensure compliance with U.S. export control requirements.
• Review and interpret technical specifications for technology, software, AI, networking, semiconductor, hardware, and other regulated products.
• Support product lifecycle activities by partnering with Engineering, Product Management, Supply Chain, Legal, and other cross-functional teams.
• Utilize ERP classification systems to manage classification workflows, audits, reporting, and documentation.
• Provide classification support for platform-based and service-oriented business models.
• Develop and maintain expertise in advanced technologies and evolving regulatory frameworks to accurately classify complex products.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in Export Control, Customs, Trade Compliance, or Product Classification.
• Strong knowledge of EAR, ECCN, HTS/Harmonized System, and ITAR regulations.
• Experience classifying technology, software, semiconductors, AI, networking, or hardware products.
• Experience using ERP classification systems and managing compliance workflows.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
