Exploration Geologist

Job Summary

The position involves mine geology and/or exploration duties under the direction of the Exploration Manager. Qualified candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.

Essential Functions

• Geologic/structural mapping and sampling
• QA/QC tracking and validation
• Field supervision of drilling/sampling programs
• Logging drill core and cuttings
• Geologic/structural modelling and interpretation
• Writing periodic reports
• Slope monitoring
• Data entry and database management
• Performs work assignments in a timely manner
• Represents the company with contractors
• Manages the RMGC Environmental Health and Safety Management system in his/her areas of responsibility
• Complies with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct

Qualifications And Skill Requirements

• Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills
• General understanding of mining operations, milling, and maintenance operations
• Proficient PC user utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software
• Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management
• Ability to work independently, but also as a member of the management team
• Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational, and technical writing skills
• Bachelor’s degree in geologic sciences is required
• Knowledgeable in geologic skills, such as mineralization environments, rock and alteration characterization, geologic and structural mapping
• Experience working on low sulphidation epithermal deposits and in volcanic terranes preferred
• General understanding of drilling techniques and equipment
• General understanding of geochemistry applied to exploration
• Entry level or one to three years of experience in mine and/or exploration geology
• Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis
• Requires valid driver’s license
