About the role

The Cloud Engineer will design a cloud architecture and provide issue resolution to systems and services hosted on cloud resources. A typical day involves evaluating systems, creating users and groups, configuring VPCs, ELBs, and implementing cloud-based configurations.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating systems and making recommendations to increase availability and efficiency.
  • Create users and groups using AWS security groups and IAM.
  • Create and configure virtual private clouds (VPCs), public and private subnets, auto scaling groups, and configure Elastic load balancers (ELB).
  • Provide recommendations supporting migration of systems to hybrid or cloud based solutions.
  • Provide cloud based web and database configuration, migration and implementation of existing systems.
  • Gather requirements, design and migrate systems to the cloud.
  • Develop and execute cloud formation scripts and manage S3 storage, EC2 instances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
  • Minimum of 11 years related experience.
  • Technical Skills: Amazon Web Services (AWS), AWS security, network, compute and storage solutions, Elastic load balancers (ELB), Cloud automation technology (such as Packer, Terraform, Puppet, Jenkins, Jira, and Github), multi-node clustering experience using Linux, CentOS, or other UNIX based platforms.
  • Required Skills: Demonstrated experience creating and configuring virtual private clouds (VPCs); creating public and private subnets; creating auto scaling groups; configuring Elastic load balancers (ELB); creating users and groups using AWS security groups and IAM; creating and managing EC2 instances; developing and executing cloud formation scripts; creating and managing elastic bulk storage; creating and managing S3 storage; creating and managing CloudTrail logs; DevOps practices and cloud automation technology such as Packer, Terraform, puppet, Jenkins, Jira, and Github; Evaluating systems and making recommendations to increase availability and efficiency.

  • AWS certifications.
  • Experience transitioning legacy physical or VMware workloads to Amazon Web Services.
  • Microsoft Windows system engineering and administration.
  • Linux system engineering and administration.
  • Enterprise Java development.
  • Java, REST Queries and Services, SQL databases, NoSQL databases.
