Expert Basketball Apparel Designer, Global Jordan

About the role

We’re looking for an outstanding Expert Basketball Apparel Designer to combine experience, problem‑solving abilities, and creativity to help build the future of Jordan Apparel. As our Expert Designer in Jordan, you’ll utilize design skills to create original, style‑led designs that reflect Jordan’s design philosophy and lead the industry through innovation. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, execute on business priorities, and quickly anticipate key trends to translate them into culturally relevant products. Passion for bringing seasonal creative direction to life and leading a team through product excellence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Design innovative performance product lines under the direction of the Design Director, from concept through production.
• Partner with Jordan Graphic Designers, Color Designers, Developers, and Product Line Managers to realize seasonal creative direction.
• Collaborate with Design Leadership, Development, and Merchandising teams to ensure design feasibility, meet price points, merchandising needs, and product timelines.
• Provide prototype sampling and detailed tech pack information, including fabrication, trim, color, graphics, style, fit, and construction details.
• Monitor prototype development, interact with Development, Pattern Making, Materials, and the Sample Room to ensure timely completion.
• Guide and mentor Designers and team members, sharing knowledge, experience, and product excellence.
• Concept seasonal collections, work with manufacturing partners, and communicate directly with athletes and collaborators.

Collaboration

You will partner with several cross‑functional teams, including Color Design, Graphic Design, Product Management, and Development, to bring the seasonal creative direction to life through apparel design and innovation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Design or related field (or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training).
• 8+ years of experience designing and developing innovative apparel and related products.
• Ability to translate consumer knowledge and insights into product solutions and narratives.
• Strong Photoshop and Illustrator skills.
• Proficiency in creating accurate 2D technical drawings (tech packs).
• Cobbling and prototyping skills (a plus).
• Experience with 3D design programs (a plus).
• Experience with AI design programs (a plus).
• Strong sketching, illustration, and rendering abilities.
• Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and construction.
• Ability to generate a broad range of concepts and solutions for each project.
• Experience and knowledge of basketball, or a passion to learn about basketball.
