Experienced Yard Jockey/Shunter

Position Overview

C&S Wholesale Grocers seeks to establish the safest, most efficient, and customer-focused fleet in the nation. As a Yard Jockey with a Class A CDL license, you will begin your career under the guidance of a Professional Driver Trainer (PDT), receiving coaching and insights into the C&S Way. Upon successful completion of the new hire training program, you will be responsible for executing yard moves safely, efficiently, and promptly.

Job Description

• Drive a jockey wagon to move trailers around the distribution center yard.
  • Transit on public roadways as needed.
  • Moves include: trailers placed and/or pulled from warehouse dock doors, trailers repositioned to proper pads within the yard, trailers brought to and through the wash bay, checking and logging trailer temperature, cleaning, fueling, and inspecting the vehicle and trailers.
  • Complete yard inventory and enter data into the yard management system (where applicable).
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned, such as completing store deliveries, stacking salvage from retail stores on pallets, unloading salvage (location-specific), operating propane fueling equipment (location-specific).
• Work directly influences warehouse operations to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School Diploma
• Valid Class A CDL and Medical Card
• Experience maneuvering and backing trailers (up to 53') with a jockey wagon
• Experience driving tractor-trailers is preferred
• Physical abilities: occasionally climb up to 4 ft., frequently reach, grip, carry, pivot, push, lift up to 60 lbs., stand and walk on various surfaces, continuously hear, see, and perform repetitive movements using both hands and feet
• Compliance with all company policies and procedures
• Ability to read, write, and speak proficiently
• Ability to understand and follow instructions
• Ability to work in various temperatures
• Drive, motivation, and passion for providing excellent customer service
• Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check
• Ability to present self in a courteous, polite, and professional manner
• Willingness to assist in other departments based on business needs
• High standard of integrity and reliability
