About the role
We are seeking a senior-level Contract Surety Underwriter for the Southeast Region. While proximity to our Atlanta office is preferred, we are open to individuals located anywhere within the Southeast Region. This is a customer-focused position ideally suited for a professional of the highest ethical standards, dedicated to excellence, and passionate about the surety business. The ideal candidate values collaboration, simplicity over complexity, and innovative problem-solving to provide practical solutions for brokers and customers. This role offers the opportunity to make significant contributions across our growing surety organization.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the lead underwriter on an existing, high-quality portfolio of contract surety clients.
- Analyze credit quality and make sound decisions regarding terms, conditions, and pricing.
- Develop and advance broker and agent relationships to pursue new business opportunities.
- Conduct contract, RFP, and bond form reviews for a wide range of risks, including middle market, subcontract, and national contractors.
- Actively contribute to daily operations, system development, and underwriting practices across the surety organization.
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of underwriting experience within contract surety or a comparable credit or financial-oriented industry.
- Strong financial analysis and credit assessment skills.
- Excellent negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 35% of the time based on business need.
- Experience managing and collaborating with retail brokers and agents.
- BS/BA Degree or equivalent experience.

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $120,000.00 to $260,000.00, along with annual bonus eligibility. Salary is determined by relevant skills and experience.
