Experienced RN – Operating Room 6p – 6:30a, vary start

About the role

As an Experienced Registered Nurse (RN), you will work in the Operating Room (O.R.) department, collaborating with a dedicated team to provide exceptional care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional care throughout the patient care journey
• Interact directly with patients and their families, offering healthcare education as needed
• Scrub and circulate through each service line during a 6-month orientation period
• Complete extra rotations on specialty call teams to gain proficiency and join the team
• Work nights from 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m., with on-call requirements
• Excelling in this role involves:
• Providing direct nursing care
• Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for a given patient population
• Assessing patient conditions, recognizing changes, and responding appropriately
• Developing and updating goals, involving patients and families in care plans, and coordinating interdisciplinary care
• Administering treatments and medication, and documenting care
• Ongoing evaluation of patient/family outcomes, contributing to care improvements, and participating in quality improvement processes
• Delegating tasks, serving as a mentor, pursuing ongoing education, and maintaining applicable certifications

Department specific duties

• Plan for patient care using patient-specific information and preference sheets
• Aid in collecting and preparing equipment, instruments, sutures, and implants
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team
• Act as a patient advocate
• Identify patients and confirm surgical site identification without discrepancies
• Timely respond to on-call pages
• Maintain the room schedule and ensure surgical specimens are handled correctly by accurate identification

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Successfully complete mandatory clinical competencies annually

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements

• Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient
• Manual and finger dexterity
• Eye-hand coordination
• Standing and walking for extended periods
• Working under stressful conditions and irregular hours
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work
