Reports to: Operations Supervisor
About the role
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Experienced Press Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating production presses to manufacture quality parts according to work instructions, specifications, and production schedules. Because we are a smaller manufacturer, the ideal candidate will be flexible, hands-on, and willing to assist in different areas of production as needed.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate press equipment safely and efficiently.
- Review work orders, drawings, specifications, and production instructions.
- Measure finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Monitor equipment and product quality throughout the production run.
- Identify and correct minor equipment, tooling, and quality issues.
- Complete required production, inspection, scrap, and downtime records.
- Meet established quality and productivity expectations.
- Perform routine equipment checks and basic preventive maintenance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all safety procedures, including machine guarding and lockout/tagout requirements.
- Communicate production concerns to supervisors, quality personnel, and maintenance.
- Train or assist less experienced operators when requested.
- Support other production activities as business needs require.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of press-operating experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience setting up and operating [stamping, hydraulic, mechanical, brake, or other applicable] presses.
- Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and basic manufacturing drawings.
- Experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools.
- Basic understanding of machine setup, tooling, tolerances, and quality requirements.
- Ability to troubleshoot common press and production issues.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Dependable attendance and a positive, professional attitude.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with die setup and changeovers.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous-improvement practices.
- Forklift or material-handling experience.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Experience completing production documentation in an ERP or manufacturing system.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for most of the shift.
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, twist, push, and pull.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to handle tools, materials, and manufactured parts safely.
- Ability to work around moving machinery, noise, oils, and typical manufacturing conditions.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
Pay
$21-$23/hour ($1.50 shift differential)
Schedule
- 4-day work week M-Th: 1st shift, 6am-4:20pm, 10-hour days
- 4-day work week M-Th: 2nd shift, 4pm-2:30am, 10-hour days
