Experienced Physician Assistant
Position Overview
UVA Community Health is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join a high-performing Radiology team serving three community hospitals across Northern Virginia. Clinical Responsibilities
- Diagnostics Radiology: Perform real-time fluoroscopic procedures (e.g., barium swallows, upper GI series, esophagrams, joint injections/arthrograms, lumbar punctures, HSGs).
- Review prior imaging, gather clinical history, and formulate accurate assessment plans.
- Generate clear, accurate preliminary procedural reports for attending radiologist review.
- Possess or able to obtain ARRT fluoroscopy training to operate fluoroscopy.
- Interventional Radiology: Perform light IR procedures (e.g., paracentesis, thoracentesis, PICC insertions, port removals, lumbar punctures).
- Conduct daily inpatient rounding for pre- and post-procedural IR patients.
- Patient Care & Coordination: Conduct comprehensive pre-procedural histories, physical exams, and lab reviews.
- Obtain informed consent, thoroughly explaining risks, benefits, and alternatives to patients.
- Provide post-procedure education and follow-up care instructions to patients and families.
Candidate Qualifications
- NCCPA-certified Physician Assistant
- Virginia licensure (or eligibility)
- Fluoroscopy training (VA Board compliant)
- Strong clinical judgement, procedural proficiencies, collaborative and communication skills
- Experience with diagnostic fluoroscopy, arthrograms, paracentesis, thoracentesis, lumbar punctures, or other image-guided procedures
- Prior experience in radiology, interventional radiology preferred
Pay Range
The base compensation range for this role is an hourly rate of $61.28 - $74.82 for a 1.0 clinical FTE status. Individual compensation will be determined by fair market value and the selected candidate’s qualifications, clinical experience, specialty training, credentials, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs, such as productivity, quality, non-productivity, or other incentives that may be available for eligible positions.
