About the Role
We are seeking Experienced or Senior Mechanical System Design Engineers to develop, maintain, and modify air vehicle subsystems (Armament, Crew Systems, Environmental Cooling, Equipment, Fuel, Hydraulics, Landing Gear, Mechanisms, and Thermodynamic) and component designs. These roles involve using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and other design methods to provide product definition to engineering groups, production operations, suppliers, and external customers throughout the product lifecycle. Positions are located in the St. Louis region and support current and emerging aircraft programs as part of the Air Dominance division in Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS). Locations include Berkeley, MO; Hazelwood, MO; St. Louis, MO; St. Charles, MO; and Mascoutah, IL.
Responsibilities
- Level 3:
- Develop, integrate, and document air vehicle subsystems requirements to establish the system design.
- Develop, maintain, and modify air vehicle subsystems and component designs using 3-D CAD tools or other design methods to provide product definition throughout the product lifecycle.
- Perform, integrate, and analyze test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
- Manage supplier development, test, and production activities, coordinating with suppliers to optimize design and achieve program goals.
- Develop new design/analysis processes and tools to improve effectiveness, quality, and efficiency.
- Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
- Work under general direction.
- Level 4:
- Develop, integrate, and document air vehicle subsystems requirements to establish the system design.
- Develop, maintain, and modify air vehicle subsystem and component designs using 3-D CAD tools or other design methods to provide product definition throughout the product lifecycle.
- Lead performance, integration, and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
- Manage supplier development, test, and production activities, coordinating with suppliers to optimize design and achieve program goals.
- Assist with investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
- Work under minimal direction.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Material Sciences).
- Level 3: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
- Level 4: 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
- Experience using NX/Teamcenter and familiarity with reading 2-D drawings.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required). An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance post-start is required.
- Some positions may require the ability to obtain Special Program Access (U.S. citizenship only).
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical Design experience on military or commercial aircraft.
- An active U.S. Security Clearance in the past 24 months.
- Experience leading and working with aircraft fluid systems design and components, including pumps, valves, heat exchangers, sensors, and controls.
- Experience with component requirement specifications and managing supplier development activities.
- Experience with thermal analysis tools such as ANSYS Thermal Desktop.
- Experience with modeling and simulation software such as Matlab, Simulink, Simcenter Amesim, and Flomaster.
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools such as Magic Systems of Systems Architect.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience developing solutions to complex technical problems requiring ingenuity and innovation.

Pay
Pay is based on candidate experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.
- Level 3: $103,700 – $140,300
- Level 4: $126,650 – $171,350
