Experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Design Engineer
About the role
The successful candidate will design and install distributed control systems for various facilities at Savannah River Site (SRS). They will be responsible for leading roles in planning, designing, procuring, commissioning, and maintaining the DCS for HVAC/Ventilation, manufacturing, and plant utilities for various chemical and nuclear processes.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and implement new DCS systems to maintain and support Facility Operations.
- Provide creative solutions to upgrade existing control systems.
- Experience with DCS, PLC or SCADA programming, Emerson DeltaV preferred.
- Experience working in a structured environment with standardized coding.
- Skills in troubleshooting PLC hardware and software issues on production systems.
- Experience working with safety systems.
- Working knowledge of IEEE/ISA standards.
- Good team player.
Requirements
- Develop and apply communication interfaces between equipment and control systems using various protocols.
- Develop and apply DCS/PLC programming.
- Develop and apply HMI programming.
- Participate in acceptance testing for equipment at the customer or vendor site.
- Develop and analyze equipment performance, monitor system performance, troubleshoot and resolve problems, and ensure operation within technical, regulatory, and safety basis requirements.
- Propose and develop process/system improvements including equipment upgrades, and plant modifications.
Qualifications
- P3: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering plus at least five years of experience (YOE).
- P4: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering plus at least ten years of experience (YOE).
- P5: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering plus at least fifteen years of experience (YOE).
