About the role

The Industrial Security Specialist works under limited direction, performing moderately complex critical security functions that support either internal security operations or external security oversight of the supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Cook up and oversee the security programs, policies, and procedures of Program suppliers to assess their capability to protect sensitive information and meet security requirements.
  • Manage audits of security programs, personnel, physical security of facilities, and information protection at suppliers or internal security programs.
  • Coordinate in preparing, administering, and disseminating education and awareness programs for new employee orientation, surveillance, briefings, and bulletins for BPMI and NNPP supplier personnel.
  • Support risk assessments of suppliers and convey areas of concern to internal stakeholders and management.
  • Support procurement processes with significant security impacts and downstream production implications (e.g., CSCS, FOCI, sponsorship).
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders, management, and suppliers on credible threats, exploits, contractual, and information security topics that may impact the industrial base.
  • Review and disposition visitor, site, and other related security plans or documents required for the protection of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information.
  • Serve the classification office as a security liaison to suppliers to ensure classification alignment.
  • Prepare and present to the government, internal stakeholders, or suppliers on incidents, performance, and information assurance topics relevant to protecting NNPI.
  • Maintain awareness of security and information protection trends via training or other methods and inform internal and external stakeholders of potential impacts.
  • Semi-frequent travel to supplier facilities (15-25%).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Security/Criminal Justice, Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience.
  • Fourteen (14) or more years of completed education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years of experience requirements.

Qualifications

  • Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and other commonly used business applications and role specific applications.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Able to communicate complex topics clearly across internal and external teams.
  • Able to manage priorities independently and contribute to team objectives with strong attention to detail and deadlines.

Pay

Annual Salary Range: $77,600 - $146,500
Salary commensurate with education and experience.

Schedule

Semi-frequent travel to supplier facilities (15-25%).
