About the role
The Industrial Security Specialist position at Avantor/NuSil is responsible for developing and administering security programs to support the company's high-performance silicones business in the Aerospace & Defense industries. This role reports to the NuSil Facility Security Officer and is based in Carpinteria, California.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the implementation of the company security program, enforcing policies, procedures, and instructions related to physical security, information security, and personnel security.
- Assist in strengthening the company's security posture by implementing operational and tactical security goals.
- Create and update security policies, procedures, and instructions related to the protection of classified information, CUI, and export-controlled information.
- Maintain working relationships with vendors, government agency representatives, and prime government contractors.
- Manage access control responsibilities, including badge system administration, alarm system administration, visitor policy, and key control.
- Analyze security systems data to improve compliance and security awareness.
- Investigate security violations and conduct security audits.
- Manage the Material Handling Plan and physical access to controlled areas.
- Provide guidance on appropriate classification markings for ITAR, EAR, CUI, FCI, and classified data.
- Participate in the development and execution of security education and training programs.
- Facilitate communication and engagement with associates across departments/functions on security-related topics.
- Support the Facility Security Officer in other security-related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Legal Studies, Information Technology, or Business Administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three years of industrial security or related experience, or four years of applicable work experience in lieu of a degree.
- Working knowledge of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).
- Active U.S. Government security clearance at the Secret level with a background investigation date within the last 6 years.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time.
- Familiarity with NIST standards for protecting Controlled Unclassified Information (NIST SP 800-171/172).
- Possession of a thorough understanding and working knowledge of the NISPOM, DFARS, and relevant NIST standards for protecting Controlled Unclassified Information (NIST SP 800-171/172).
- Experience with NISS / NCAISS, DISS.
- Proficiency with basic office automation tools such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Pay
The expected pre-tax pay range for this position is $69,000.00 - $110,975.00. Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
Schedule
The Industrial Security Specialist position is full-time and permanent.
