Maintenance Technician

As a Maintenance Technician at Steel Technologies, your main responsibility is to continue to improve our safety, quality, and efficiency. How? By performing preventative, routine, and emergency mechanical and/or electrical maintenance and providing effective troubleshooting, you are a huge part in ensuring operations is running effectively at all times.

How You’ll Contribute to Our Company

• Preventative Maintenance
  • Perform routine maintenance to all plant machinery
  • Carry out the preventative maintenance program for the plant
  • Able to accept and control maintenance operations and communicate non-compliance problems to supervisor for instruction
  • Identify and address safety concerns throughout the facility
  • Maintain general housekeeping and organization of maintenance department and all equipment repair work area
  • Review the operation of plant equipment and systems to evaluate need for maintenance or repair
  • Maintain low percentage of maintenance downtime
  • Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies
• Minimize Downtime
  • Continuously review the operation of plant equipment and systems
  • Anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner
  • Identify opportunities for improvement
• Effective Troubleshooting
  • Must have knowledge and ability to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs through a quick and effective root cause analogy
  • Able to accurately fill out documentation on work orders
  • Able to perform emergency maintenance repairs to all plant machinery

What Is Needed to Be Successful

• Ability to correctly retrieve and input data in computer using Excel and CMMS System
• Successfully troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment/machinery
• Strong mechanical industrial knowledge and basic electrical knowledge
• Able to operate motor control systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatics, hoists, fire protection and mechanical bearing systems
• Able to comply with safety rules and requirements
• Experience operating metal working tools such as grinder, band saw, drill press, welding equipment, etc.
• Mechatronics certificate is strongly desired but not required
