About The Role

Source Engineering is seeking an experienced Service Technician to assemble, install, service, troubleshoot, and repair custom and standard manufacturing equipment. This position combines shop-based fabrication and assembly work with field service support at customer facilities throughout the local area. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical background, experience with fabrication and machining equipment, and the ability to work independently while representing Source Engineering professionally at customer sites.

What You'll Do

  • Equipment Assembly & Fabrication
    • Assemble standard and custom manufacturing equipment using hand and power tools.
    • Perform drilling, tapping, hardware installation, sandblasting, touch-up painting, and final product preparation.
    • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
    • Provide feedback on drawings and designs to improve manufacturability and accuracy.
    • Organize and kit parts for production and installation projects.
  • Service & Field Support
    • Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair equipment at customer facilities.
    • Safely operate service vehicles and truck-mounted cranes.
    • Deliver completed projects and equipment to customers.
    • Collaborate with customers and internal team members to ensure successful project completion.
    • Maintain Source Engineering's quality and safety standards both in the shop and in the field.
  • Machining & Welding
    • Perform advanced machining operations on mills and lathes.
    • Complete MIG and/or TIG welding tasks.
    • Assist with custom fabrication projects and equipment modifications.
  • Team & Leadership
    • Mentor and support less-experienced technicians.
    • Work collaboratively with production and service teams.
    • Assess assigned jobs, accurately estimate the time required to complete tasks, and self-manage daily work activities with minimal supervision.
    • Evaluate work scope on arrival at a job site, organize and delegate tasks among team members, and manage the team to complete projects safely, efficiently, and within established timelines.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
    • Assist with shop organization, equipment maintenance, and job site readiness.

Required Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of related experience in fabrication, industrial equipment, machining, or field service OR equivalent technical training.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience operating mills and lathes.
  • Experience with MIG and/or TIG welding.
  • Forklift operating experience.
  • Clean driving record and ability to operate company vehicles.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industrial maintenance experience.
  • Manufacturing equipment installation and repair experience.
  • Experience operating truck-mounted cranes.
  • Leadership or mentoring experience.
  • Familiarity with custom machinery and automation equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, walk, climb, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to lift and move 50+ pounds.
  • Comfortable working in manufacturing, industrial, outdoor, cold, dusty, and physically demanding environments.

Additional Information

  • This position is classified as Safety Sensitive and is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen, including marijuana.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
