About the role

The Estimator inspects vehicle damage to determine repair costs for insurance claims, manages time efficiently, and communicates effectively with management and customers.

Responsibilities

• Examines damaged vehicles to assess structural, body, mechanical, or interior damage.
• Estimates labor and parts costs to repair or replace damaged items.
• Estimates repair time and communicates updates to customers.
• Reviews repair cost estimates with the body shop manager or foreperson.
• Orders LKQ and after-market parts.
• Determines feasibility of repair versus replacement for parts like bumpers, fenders, and doors.
• Contacts insurance companies regarding potential total vehicle loss.
• Maintains customer contact for repair updates and pick-up times.
• Resolves disagreements on repair costs by arranging third-party appraisals.
• Evaluates repair practicality versus payment of pre-accident vehicle market value.
• Prepares insurance forms with repair cost estimates and recommendations.
• Estimates costs for repainting, customizing, or converting undamaged vehicles.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience and/or training.
• Auto body experience and/or tech school education desired.
• Passion and aptitude for collision repair technologies.
• Strong work ethic and professional appearance.
• Unrestricted driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to operate a standard-transmission vehicle.
