Experienced Digital or Corrugated Machine Operator 2nd Shift
About the Role
This position is responsible for digital printing solutions for customers, including cutting, printing, and assembly of samples for customer orders. The role involves safely operating production machines, setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to meet customer demand.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Scheduler, Graphic Design, and Structural Designers.
- Operate production machines safely, complying with Pratt Industries Safety rules and procedures.
- Participate in Plant Safety Committee and follow Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs).
- Comply with quality procedures and policies to prevent poor quality from reaching customers.
- Maximize equipment utilization by operating machinery at available capacity and speed.
- Improve setup times and reduce downtime daily.
- Identify and report mechanical concerns to supervision.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas, including housekeeping of shared spaces.
- Learn machine capabilities and drive efficiencies to limit waste and downtime.
- Cross-train on other machines and positions within the plant.
- Complete accurate and timely reports (e.g., production data, safety data, quality data).
- Submit maintenance work orders proactively.
- Adhere to production schedules and recommend optimizations.
- Work overtime as necessary, including short notice and holidays.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Experience in Digital or Corrugated Industry.
- Basic math proficiency, including fractions and ability to read a tape measure.
- Strong computer skills with file-to-print process.
Skills
- Language Skills: Ability to read and follow factory instructions.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate percentages, measurements, volume, and rates; apply high school math concepts.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or graphic form; solve problems involving concrete variables.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The role involves frequent use of hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and occasional sitting. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, and occasionally high places, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
