Experienced Corporate Credit Analyst
About the role
American Century Investments is seeking to fill a corporate credit analyst position within our Global Credit Research team. We seek an experienced, hardworking investment professional to join our Global Fixed Income Portfolio Management teams as a Corporate Credit Analyst focused on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Services in both Investment Grade and High Yield rated borrowers. This hybrid position will be based out of our New York office. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
Responsibilities
- Conduct fundamental "bottoms-up" credit analysis, up and down borrowers' capital structures, in the Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Services sectors.
- This includes but not limited to building financial models, analysis of company financials and documents, meeting with company management, synthesizing and integrating sell side research into a holistic view.
- Articulate strong views to portfolio managers and effectively defend positions, translating recommendations into trading ideas with a high degree of conviction.
- Build and maintain internal resources, maintaining industry and/or company statistics that supplement the firm's in-house database and research capabilities.
- Build and enhance industry knowledge, assisting in building the firm's database of knowledge through attending investment conferences and company presentations.
Requirements
- Work experience - Experienced in fixed income research, with a preference for strong working knowledge in the Financials sectors. Investment Grade and High Yield experience required.
- Deep sector knowledge - Able to effectively discuss sector themes and articulate current trends in the space, which contribute to building a bottoms-up perspective on macro trends.
- Technical skills - Strong understanding of in-depth fundamental analysis and relative value investment concepts validated through prior experience building financial models to value investments and high proficiency in Bloomberg and Excel.
- Education - Undergraduate degree in a relevant field of study. Advanced degree such as an MBA and/or CFA designation a plus.
- Cultural - Proactive, able to work independently yet be a team-player serving as a resource to the larger research team and mentor to junior members of the team. Able to hold an opinion but open-minded and willing to listen and engage with others.
