Experienced Boiler Field Engineer

GE Vernova’s Gas Power business engineers advanced, efficient natural gas-powered technologies and services, along with decarbonization solutions that aim to help electrify a lower carbon future. As part of the Gas Power One Field Services team, FieldCore installs, maintains and upgrades power generation equipment, enabling operators of the world’s energy infrastructure to provide more reliable and affordable energy.
About the role
The Technical Field Advisor (TFA) HRSG will execute highly technical services on various fossil-fired steam generator equipment and systems (Boilers / HRSGs). The role requires adherence to internal processes while addressing challenges that may arise. Engineers are accountable for delivering quality service to customers and providing advice and guidance on the operation, maintenance, efficiency, and reliability of fossil-fired steam generator equipment and systems. Additional duties may be assigned to align with FieldCore’s vision and core values.
Responsibilities
- Perform field service assignments, adapting to varying conditions at customer facilities while operating within estimated resources and ensuring quality.
- Take decisive actions on complex technical matters to eliminate or minimize adverse impact, ensure quality, and operate within budget.
- Communicate effectively with management and team members regarding work activities.
- Work collaboratively, incorporating feedback from multiple sources into customer support and reporting.
- Adjust to revised priorities and unforeseen problems at customer facilities while meeting tight schedules.
- Travel extensively and/or temporarily reside at customer sites, including being on call and available as required.
- Work holidays, weekends, and overtime as required by field assignments.
- Maintain attention to detail to avoid errors that could result in significant time loss, rework, or inefficient resource use.
- Work independently to provide advice and guidance on commissioning, operation, maintenance, efficiency, and reliability of equipment and systems.
- Manage time effectively to prioritize multiple tasks and balance administrative requirements with customer support.
- Demonstrate strong technical writing skills to describe complex issues concisely and develop customer recommendations.
- Demonstrate resilience in a demanding role with extensive travel and an uncertain schedule.
- Act as a self-starter, motivated to take on challenging assignments in industrial environments, including remote or international locations.
- Conduct inspections on equipment and systems (Boilers, HRSGs, Pipework, Pressure parts, etc.), perform test methods, and support projects in a secondary role.
- Write detailed reports and act as the Company’s representative in resolving complex technical and logistics problems while maintaining good customer relations.
- Manage and develop employees.
Requirements
- Technical/University degree or qualifying experience, or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a Field Services role.
- 3+ years of experience in a field services or power generation equipment maintenance position.
- Strong technical competence in reading and interpreting electrical/mechanical flow and instrument diagrams, dial and laser alignment, and thermal growth equipment.
- Extensive travel to and from projects and various field assignments will be required.
- English proficiency required.
Qualifications
- Introductory level; most new hires with little experience on the GE Product will start at this level and participate in on-the-job training.
- Experience and training on Alstom, Siemens, or other OEM equipment.
- Extensive Field Engineering Services experience.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Strong oral and written interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Strong business acumen and ability to sell GE products to customers.
Pay
The annual salary range for this position is $77,000 to $129,400. This is an exempt (from overtime) position.
