About the role
The Auto Glass Technician plays a crucial role at Safelite, focusing on vehicle glass repair and replacement services. They leverage Safelite’s training, tools, and technology to provide efficient, safe, and high-quality services both in shops and on mobile glass shops.
Responsibilities
- Provide all vehicle glass repair and replacement services in the most efficient manner, prioritizing safety, quality, and exceptional customer service.
- Clean customer vehicles after every job.
- Recalibrate automotive safety systems, including troubleshooting and diagnostic testing.
- Proficiently operate Safelite’s tools and technologies, such as True Seal®, Ezi-Wire™, Glass Table System (GTS), chemicals, work order systems, and MRM technology.
- Safely operate company and customer vehicles throughout the workday.
- Communicate with all scheduled customers in-person, via text, and on the phone; promote and sell Safelite promotional items and services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and any other required licenses to operate a company vehicle.
- Required Safelite SafeTech™ certification.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Preferred: Previous experience in automotive glass repair and replacement.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Standing for extended periods, working in tight spaces, bending, twisting, and operating various hand and power tools.
- Operating a motor vehicle safely and effectively according to all laws.
- Using computerized diagnostic tools to complete recalibrations and troubleshoot issues.
- Reading, writing, and interpreting the English language and technical directions.
- Communicating orally and written, maintaining a professional appearance, and adhering to company uniform and PPE policies.
- Maintaining professionalism and passion for providing outstanding customer service and exceeding customer expectations.
- Working with chemicals (including flammable chemicals) as applicable.
- Working scheduled days with flexibility on start and end times to accommodate customer needs.
- Problem-solving and ability to troubleshoot issues independently and collaboratively.
- Willingness and ability to maintain stable performance under pressure and opposition.

- Competitive weekly pay ranging from $24.00 - $33.50/hour.

- Potential to be promoted in the first year.
- Starting pay of $29.50/hour as a Senior Tech and $32/hour as a Master Tech.
