About the role
The Auto Glass Technician provides all vehicle glass repair and replacement services at Safelite Shops and Mobile Glass Shops. Duties include cleaning vehicles, recalibrating safety systems, operating Safelite tools and technologies, and communicating with customers.
Responsibilities
- Provide all vehicle glass repair and replacement services at Safelite Shops and Mobile Glass Shops
- Clean customer vehicles after every job
- Recalibrate automotive safety systems, including trouble-shooting and completing diagnostic testing
- Proficiently operate Safelite’s tools and technologies, including True Seal®, Ezi-Wire™, Glass Table System (GTS), chemicals, work order and customer administration systems, and MRM technology
- Safely operate company and customer vehicles throughout the workday
- Communicate with all scheduled customers in-person, via text, and on the phone; present, promote and sell Safelite promotional items and services to customers
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and any other licenses required by federal, state, and local laws to operate a company vehicle
- Required: Safelite SafeTech™ certification
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Standing for extended periods, working in tight spaces, bending and twisting body
- Using a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Operating a motor vehicle in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws
- Maintaining professionalism and passion for providing outstanding customer service and exceeding customer expectations
- Working with chemicals (including but not limited to flammable chemicals), as applicable per the “Safelite Way of Fitting”
- Working scheduled days, with flexibility on start and end times to accommodate customer’s needs
- Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic tools to complete recalibrations and trouble-shoot issues
- Problem-solving and ability to trouble-shoot issues, independently and collaboratively
- Reading, writing, and interpreting the English language and technical directions
- Communicating orally (via phone) and written (via computer or other electronic means)
- Maintaining a professional appearance, adhering to Company uniform and PPE policies
- Willingness and ability to maintain stable performance under professional or personal pressure and/or opposition (e.g., time pressure and productivity measures)
