Expander - 2nd Shift (Swings)

Schedule

2nd Shift: 3:30 pm – 1:00 am, Monday – Thursday with alternating Fridays (+15% shift differential).

Responsibilities

• Read and understand station plan, standard work, or any other work instructions before performing assigned work.
• Perform tasks assigned with minimal assistance.
• Work within a team environment, providing constructive feedback as required.
• Work safely around chemicals, high temperatures, lifting devices, and electrical equipment.
• Use inspection tools proficiently.
• Paint and coat parts prior to hot expanding.
• Set up jobs for hot/cold expand per station plan and standard work instructions.
• Re-adjust initial setup based on results of first strike to ensure quality parts per station plan and/or blueprint.
• Understand digital recorders, temperature controllers, and thermocouple correction factors.
• Layout and measure first part before continuing the balance of the work order.
• Measure each part after removal from the expander.
• Troubleshoot parts that fail to meet station plan and/or blueprint requirements.
• Seek out and work with engineering support when needed.
• Set up and operate metal finishing equipment.
• Perform de-burring and grinding of parts.
• Record required document inputs and operator charge time correctly.
• Perform all jobs safely as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• Ability to work in a high-temperature environment.
• 1–2 years’ work experience inspecting production parts using blueprints or gages.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
• Working knowledge of basic inspection equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Knowledgeable in metal finishing.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
