Responsibilities

The Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) is responsible for understanding the treatment plan as outlined by the dentist and providing patient care within their scope of practice. The EFDA will also maintain equipment, supplies, cleanliness, and efficiency of the office. Specific duties include:

• Performing restorations, sealants, coronal polishing, fluoride application, and rubber dam placement/removal within the scope of practice.
• Applying cavity liners and bases, and learning to place Denovos/Impressions.
• Providing patient and parent/guardian homecare instructions.
• Preparing areas for each patient’s needs prior to procedures.
• Understanding patient scheduling and office flow to ensure smooth appointments.
• Reviewing patient charts thoroughly before procedures, including medical history, x-ray requirements, and special considerations.
• Assisting with additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved EFDA school.
• Current EFDA license in the state of practice, in good standing.
• Current DANB Radiology (x-ray) certification.
• CPR certification.
• Customer service experience with a friendly and helpful demeanor.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing conditions and work responsibilities.
• Ability to work well under stress.
• Willingness to travel to other locations as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of electronic dental records and practice management systems, specifically Denticon.
• Pediatric experience.
• Dental office experience.

Schedule

Monday–Thursday: 7:45am–5:45pm
Fridays and Saturdays: As needed
