About the role
Ohio Dental Outreach is seeking a Part-time (Thursday/Friday) Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) in Columbus, OH and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
- Expanded Function Dental Assisting Services during mobile dental clinics
- Digital X-ray Imaging
- Patient Records Charting
- Equipment Set-up, Breakdown, and Sterilization
- Assistance with Smile Programs In-School Dental Program
- Evenings, weekends and summers off!
- Work a school day schedule (about 6 – 7 hours); on average between 8:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M.
Qualifications
- Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) must hold active EFDA license and CPR certification card
- Must have 1+ years of experience as an Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA)
- Must have 1+ years Digital X-ray Imaging experience
- Valid driver license, reliable transportation and a willingness to travel locally is a must
- Works well with others (both children and adults)
- Able to work well in fast-paced environment; organized and detail-oriented; able to multi-task
- Able to carry up to 55 lbs.
- Able to walk several flights of stairs on occasion as many schools are without elevators

Schedule
Works a school day schedule (about 6 – 7 hours); on average between 8:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M.
Working Conditions
- Prolonged sitting and standing
- Working in tight spaces
- Lift up to 50+ pounds and assist with unloading, set up, break down, and reloading equipment from mobile van into school and back to mobile van
- Handle dental instruments, x-ray equipment, sterilizers, air compressors and other equipment as needed to perform job tasks
- Follow safety guidelines to protect themselves and patients from infectious diseases and associated risks with the x-ray machine
- Travel (up to 2+ hours on occasions)
- Fast paced, requiring adaptability to interact with children and adults
