Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA)

About the role

Premier Dental is seeking a Full-Time Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join their team. The EFDA will work closely with dentists and other team members to provide exceptional dental care to patients.

Responsibilities

• Aiding the dentist during various treatment procedures
• Taking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays)
• Asking about the patient's medical history and taking blood pressure and pulse
• Serving as an infection control officer, developing infection control protocols and preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment
• Helping patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment
• Providing patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling)
• Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling)
• Taking impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth)
• Communicating with patients and suppliers (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing and ordering supplies)
• Helping to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and oral surgery
• Completing approved procedures validated through the Dental Board such as placement of amalgam, composite restorations, stainless steel crowns, space maintainers, etc.
• Following properly issued instructions/directions regarding patient flow and managing the flow of patients to schedule/maximize the doctor’s time if applicable

Requirements

• EFDA Certification in the state of OHIO

Pay

Full-time employees (30+ hours per week) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage, as well as access to a variety of voluntary benefits. Part-time employees working 16+ hours per week are eligible for paid time off. All employees may participate in our 401(k) retirement savings plan, which includes a company match.

Monday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Thursday: 10:00 AM - 6:50 PM
Friday: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
