Responsibilities
- Maintain and continually improve daily husbandry protocols for a diverse range of reptiles, amphibians, fishes, and both aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates.
- Support Veterinary staff and Senior Aquarists with medical procedures and treatments.
- Collaborate effectively with the Animal Husbandry team to communicate the husbandry and medical requirements of animals within the section.
- Ensure the cleanliness and proper maintenance of animal habitats, which includes SCUBA diving.
- Administer appropriate diets to a variety of fishes, invertebrates, reptiles, and amphibians.
- Assist with species management planning, including animal transfers and acclimation procedures.
- Assist with live animal food culturing.
- Train new volunteers and part-time staff members.
- Present public educational programs and messaging across a variety of settings.
- Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to maintain and expand relevant expertise.
Requirements
- A solid understanding of animal welfare standards, including the husbandry of reptiles, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of aquatic life support systems and ability to manage them.
- Experience with reptiles, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Marine Science, Zoology, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in animal care, preferably in a zoo, aquarium, or similar setting.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.

Pay

Schedule
- 40 hours/week; Sunday – Thursday or Tuesday – Saturday between the hours of 7:00 am – 6:00 pm; schedule will vary occasionally to meet operational needs.
