About The Position
The Exercise Specialist will be working with the Reid Fitness Services (i.e., Rock Steady Boxing, H.I.I.T. Boxing, Fall Prevention, Group Fitness, CancerFit).
Duties
- Prepare equipment and areas
- Cover outreach locations
- Disinfect and clean exercise areas
Overview Of Responsibilities
- Perform duties and responsibilities assigned by the Sports Medicine and Reid Fitness Manager.
- Develop and instruct daily workouts for the different boxing programs.
- Communicate with boxers and other coaches about workout goals and program details.
- Recognize and assist boxers in need by demonstrating proper form.
- Provide appropriate first aid when required, including CPR.
- Clean and maintain equipment used in exercise areas.
- Provide coverage at outreach locations.
- Recognize and correct poor form during exercises, focusing on injury prevention.
- Aid in covering all Reid Fitness programming.
- Participate in Quality Assurance and Improvement (QA&I) activities.
- Assist in promoting and marketing Reid Fitness Services.
- Inform the Sports Medicine and Reid Fitness Manager of departmental occurrences and needs.
Education & Experience
- Education Required: High school diploma minimum, actively pursuing a BS degree.
- Education Preferred: BS degree in exercise science, kinesiology, health/physical education, or other related degree/specialty.
- Experience Required: Some experience in exercise, experience with the geriatric population.
- Experience Preferred: 2+ years of experience with exercise, experience working with a wide range of individuals, experience creating specific workouts for individuals with specific health issues (Cancer, Parkinson’s disease, etc.).
Licensure & Certification
- Certifications Required: BLS CPR, First Aid, or equivalent. Must have or meet the requirements to be eligible for the Rock Steady Boxing Coaches Certification. Must obtain Rock Steady Boxing Coaches Certification within the first 90 days.
- Certifications Preferred: Personal Training Certification, Exercise Physiologist, or other medical/exercise certification. Group Exercise, Personal Training.
