About the Role
The Exercise Physiologist provides safe and effective cardiovascular testing or pulmonary rehabilitation sessions for adult and geriatric patients with chronic respiratory and comorbid conditions. This role involves conducting assessments, reviewing medical history and tests, formulating exercise prescriptions, guiding and motivating patients through rehabilitation sessions, and observing and documenting responses to therapy while adhering to the scope and standards of practice according to American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Conduct cardiovascular testing and pulmonary rehabilitation sessions for adult and geriatric patients.
- Assess patients, review medical history and tests, and formulate exercise prescriptions.
- Guide and motivate patients through rehabilitation sessions.
- Observe and document patient responses to therapy.
- Adhere to AACVPR guidelines and scope of practice.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited exercise physiology program with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or equivalent.
- Certified in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or equivalent.
- Six (6) months of experience in Cardiac/Pulmonary rehab involving the exercise treatment of patients.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS).
- Certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP) or Clinical Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-CEP).
- Certificate in Pulmonary Rehabilitation AACVPR/AARC.
