About the role
The Exercise Physiologist provides coverage in the Testing Center department, performing CPET and stress tests (treadmill or bike) under the supervision of a Cardiologist. The role may also include patient education on fitness performance and cardiovascular disease risk factors.
Responsibilities
- Assess fitness levels and determine appropriate exercise modalities; consult with Cardiologist as required to perform tests.
- Apply exercise science to perform stress test procedures as ordered by Cardiologists or referring MDs.
- Perform VO₂max testing, including body composition analysis.
- Lead exercise classes for Phase II/Phase III Cardiac Rehab or Ornish programs upon request; ensure safe equipment use and develop exercise prescriptions based on stress test results.
- Educate patients on cardiovascular disease risk factors.
- Monitor patient heart rhythms and notify Cardiologist of arrhythmias or symptoms during stress tests or exercise classes.
- Monitor blood sugars pre- and post-exercise for patients with diabetes (Type 1 or 2) per protocol.
- Ensure cleanliness and proper functioning of all exercise equipment.
- Participate in referral/enrollment processes and department policy development.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science or related field (required).
- Master’s degree in exercise science or related field (preferred).
- Certification with American College of Sports Medicine (preferred).
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association, required).
- ACLS Certification (American Heart Association, required).
- Experience in exercise program planning, supervision, and risk factor modification education with cardiovascular rehabilitation patients.
- One to three years of experience (preferred).

$32.69 – $40.87 – $50.48 per hour.
Schedule
