Exercise Instructor (PRN) [Blount]

Job Summary

Leads exercise classes for various fitness levels, providing a safe, fun and effective class structure in a professional, friendly and motivating manner. Supports and promotes the wellness center both internally and externally.

Essential Functions

• Fulfills industry guidelines and standards on safe, approved exercises.
• Modifies classes based on skill level and health status.
• Motivates and encourages participants at all classes.
• Promotes the philosophy of cross training and encourages members to explore all types of classes offered at the wellness center.
• Aims to know members by name and take a professional interest in their health goals.
• Arrives 10 minutes early and stays 10 minutes after class.
• Handles inquiries regarding the exercise classes.
• Presents professionalism, assists in program marketing and promotes a clean environment.
• Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the Prisma Health mission to ensure high quality service: Maintains confidentiality of member information, facilitates, initiates and implements change.
• Works as a positive team member with members and staff to help resolve problems.
• Conforms to legal and ethical requirements and supports Prisma Health safety and health policies.
• Enhances professional growth and development: Maintains current certifications. Stays current on industry advances through professional applications and ongoing literature and in-services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience: One (1) year of experience in a similar setting preferred.
• Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses: Nationally recognized exercise or fitness related certification preferred.
• CPR/AED Knowledge, Skills And Abilities: Ability to teach a variety of class types and fitness levels Work Shift Day (United States of America).
