About the Role

As the Executive Team Leader Human Resources at Target, you will champion a guest-centric culture while leading HR strategies that drive sales, profitability, and team member engagement. This role involves consulting with peers, coaching leaders, and ensuring compliance with employment laws. You’ll spend significant time on the sales floor, influencing across all levels of the organization to build a diverse, inclusive, and high-performing team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and create a service culture that prioritizes guest experience, modeling, training, and coaching expectations.
  • Drive total store sales and profitability by understanding your team’s impact on financial performance.
  • Plan, lead, and follow up on organizational and operational changes.
  • Anticipate and address unique store trends, leveraging guest insights to position Target as the destination of choice.
  • Champion a culture where teams love to work and guests love to shop, recognizing and rewarding outstanding performance.
  • Build teams committed to continuous learning through ongoing observations and reinforcement of guest-service behaviors.
  • Support the leadership team in ensuring equitable experiences, strengthening inclusion acumen, and promoting a culture of belonging.
  • Engage and educate the store team on Target’s community initiatives, building local relationships and enhancing brand awareness.
  • Develop leaders to be champions of a guest-centric culture, fostering an open-door environment where team members feel heard.
  • Create schedules that balance guest needs and team member preferences, increasing predictability in work hours.
  • Guide store leaders in hiring and onboarding talent aligned with guest and business needs.
  • Develop a team of HR Experts and Team Leaders to solve problems, remove roadblocks, and engage team members with Target’s purpose.
  • Plan and manage operational programs related to culture, pay, rewards, and benefits to maximize engagement and minimize disruption.
  • Coach team leaders to elevate skills and establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Ensure ethical conduct, safety, and compliance, holding the team accountable to these standards.
  • Address store needs, including emergencies and regulatory visits, as a key carrier.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen and comfort dealing with ambiguity.
  • Ability to manage conflict, lead teams, and hold others accountable.
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision-making, and financial/quantitative analysis.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs.
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
  • Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.
  • Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
  • Accurately handle cash register operations.
  • Flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with regular attendance.

Skills

  • Experience creating and managing HR strategies and goals.
  • Ability to read financial reports and interpret data.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Skills in recruiting, selecting, and talent management of hourly team members and leaders.
  • Ability to support business leaders through coaching and consulting on team growth and development.
  • Influence across levels and partners (e.g., hourly team members, senior leaders).

Pay

The pay range for this role is $64,000.00 - $128,000.00. Pay is based on several factors, including labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.
