Executive Protection Specialist
About the role
The Executive Protection Specialist provides discreet, intelligence-led protection to designated corporate executives and key personnel. This role supports personal safety, business continuity, and reputational risk management through proactive planning, advance work, and low-visibility protective operations. The position requires frequent travel and the ability to operate effectively in dynamic, high-trust corporate environments.
Global Risk and Security (GR&S) at Vanguard enables business strategy, protects client and Vanguard interests (e.g., assets and data), and stewards a strong risk culture. Within GR&S, the Enterprise Security and Fraud (ES&F) sub-division is responsible for the global protection of Vanguard crew, property, data, and client assets.
Responsibilities
- Deliver executive protection services for corporate leadership during domestic and international travel, events, and daily activities.
- Conduct advance work, site assessments, and logistical planning for travel, meetings, hotels, venues, and transportation routes.
- Perform ongoing threat, vulnerability, and exposure assessments to inform protection strategies and travel planning.
- Plan and support secure executive movements, including contingency and emergency response planning.
- Maintain situational awareness and apply avoidance, de-escalation, and sound judgment as primary protective strategies.
- Adapt quickly to changing schedules, environments, and operational priorities while maintaining professionalism.
- Coordinate with corporate security leadership, travel security teams, law enforcement, and approved external partners as required.
- Respond effectively to security, safety, or medical incidents with discretion and composure.
- Produce clear risk assessments, incident reports, after-action reports, and operational documentation.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and always uphold the highest standards of professionalism.
Requirements
- 3–5 years' experience in executive protection, law enforcement, military, or related protective services.
- Demonstrated experience conducting advance work and threat, risk, or vulnerability assessments.
- Strong situational awareness, decision-making, and judgment under uncertainty.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proven discretion in handling sensitive personal and corporate information.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to support secure transportation operations.
- Ability to meet physical and medical requirements consistent with protective duties.
- Extensive domestic and international travel, often on short notice.
- Ability to support extended assignments, irregular schedules, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Flexibility to operate across time zones and rapidly changing itineraries.
