Responsibilities
- Manages calendars for senior leaders in the Commissioner’s Office and arranges representation at meetings and events.
- Assists with daily office operations, including scheduling meetings, receiving visitors, answering phones, and directing inquiries.
- Coordinates travel logistics (transportation, lodging, registration, food, and payments) for the Commissioner’s Office and State Board of Education members.
- Assists with State Board of Education meeting agenda preparation and logistics.
- Generates and processes contracts, agreements, and grants for workshops, meetings, speakers, and staff.
- Coordinates workflow and schedules to facilitate management of NDE operations.
- Processes and maintains databases and spreadsheets to provide information.
- Creates correspondence, summaries, and mailings for public information and awareness activities.
- Performs administrative and accounting duties, including preparing, maintaining, and processing financial records, accounts receivable, and payable in the State of Nebraska accounting system.
Working Conditions
This position requires approximately 90% of work time in an office environment, with the remainder spent traveling to state board meetings, schools, educational service units, conferences, and other agencies. Approximately five to ten days of overnight travel per year are expected.
Requirements
- Associate degree in a related field and five years of experience related to the essential functions of the position. Equivalent education and/or work experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of PreK-12 education.
- Experience working within the executive office of a business or agency.
