Executive Director – Suffolk, VA
About the role
The Suffolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (SRHA) is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as the Executive Director. SRHA manages 466 public housing units, 1,021 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) units, and 12 units of intermediary housing for the mentally disabled. The new Executive Director will succeed the agency's current long-term Executive Director, who is retiring after 20 years.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of SRHA's operations, including public housing management, HCV administration, and intermediary housing programs.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the quality of life for residents in SRHA-managed properties.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing housing programs.
- Work closely with the SRHA Board of Commissioners to make informed decisions that benefit the community.
- Manage the budget and financial resources of SRHA to ensure efficient and effective operations.
- Represent SRHA in various community forums and meetings.
Requirements
- Demonstrated progressive executive/CEO leadership or business achievement.
- Experience in managing large-scale housing programs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including residents, board members, and government officials.
- Knowledge of housing policy and regulations.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in urban planning, public administration, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of relevant work experience, preferably in housing management or non-profit administration.
- Proven track record of successful leadership and strategic planning.
