About the role
The Simulation Center, under the Office of the Provost, is committed to advancing academic excellence through innovative simulation-based education, interprofessional collaboration, and experiential learning at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. The Center includes a staff of 10, supporting simulation programming and activities across multiple simulation facilities at UNT Health and soon-to-launch in UNT Dallas campus. The Simulation Center supports UNT Health academic colleges and institutional initiatives across the UNT System through high-quality simulation experiences that promote educational excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide enterprise-level strategic leadership for simulation education across UNT Health.
- Direct governance, compliance, and institutional risk management for all simulation activities.
- Lead strategic planning for simulation infrastructure and growth.
- Advise senior academic leadership through institutional assessment, reporting, and data-informed decision-making.
- Advance innovation and academic excellence in simulation-based education.
- Oversee multi-location operational and financial stewardship.
- Establish and lead workforce development and professional standards for simulation-based education.
- Cultivate internal and external partnerships and funding opportunities.
Requirements
- Master's degree (or higher) in a health profession, education, or closely related field.
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in simulation-based education, academic health sciences or a closely related field.
Qualifications
- Expertise in simulation-based education, including curriculum integration and assessment.
- Experience using data and assessment to inform leadership decisions.
- Knowledge of academic administration, governance structures, and accreditation standards.
- Knowledge of financial management principles, including budgeting and resource stewardship.
- Knowledge of simulation-based education principles, practices, and emerging technologies.
- Skill in strategic planning and execution aligned with institutional priorities.
- Skill in leadership and supervision of professional staff across multiple units.
- Skill in analyzing, preparing, and presenting reports and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Ability to analyze complex organizational, operational, and risk-related issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to build partnerships and influence institutional decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in simulation (e.g., CHSE, CHSOS, or equivalent).
- Clinical licensure in good standing.
- Five or more years of experience designing and leading health simulation education.
- Experience leading an interprofessional healthcare simulation program that serves multiple clinical/academic disciplines.
- Prior experience in large, complex academic health systems or multi-institution collaborations.
