Job Summary
The Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) seeks an Executive Director of Music to lead the coordination and support of New York City’s music sector. Key responsibilities include serving as the primary City liaison to the music and live entertainment industries, developing policies and programs, and making music and live entertainment more accessible to all New Yorkers.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary City liaison to the music and live entertainment industries.
- Convene stakeholders accordingly
- Cookordination across agencies (permitting, parks, public safety, small business services, tourism, etc.) to streamline processes impacting music activity
- Develop policies and programs that support the music industry while facilitating access for all New Yorkers
- Create and oversee initiatives that make music accessible to all New Yorkers, including concerts in public spaces across all five boroughs, ticket distribution programs for low- and moderate-income residents, and partnerships with venues, festivals, and cultural institutions
- Support emerging artists and local talent pipelines
- Attract major concerts, festivals, and touring productions to NYC through proactive industry outreach
- Position NYC as the top destination for music companies and collaborate with economic development entities to attract and retain music-related businesses
- Handle special projects and initiatives as assigned.
Hours/Shift
Day - Due to the necessary management duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to be on call and/or work various shifts such as weekends and/or nights/evenings.
