About the role
The Executive Director of Human Resources will lead all HR operations at City Tech, a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn. Reporting to the Chief Campus Counsel, this individual will oversee HRIS implementation, manage personnel records, and provide strategic leadership on HR policies and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Strategic leadership and governance of the College's new HRIS (Workday)
- Serve as a strategic partner to executive management on HR-related issues
- Advise managers on HR policies and regulatory compliance
- Manage personnel records and data management
- Comply with FLSA rules, FMLA, worker's compensation, and unemployment insurance
- Lead the reasonable accommodation review process
- Administer recruitment, appointment, termination, classification, performance evaluation, and promotion processes
- Facilitate and review actions with relevant college offices
- Develop, deliver, and track HR training and professional development programs
- Evaluate internal HR processes and implement continuous improvements
- Represent Human Resources on various college-wide committees
- Champion employee retention and engagement
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience
- Advanced degree in Human Resources or a related field, or a J.D., and a minimum of 10 years of experience in HR
- SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification
- Proficiency in Workday HRIS
- Experience in higher education and strong knowledge of regulatory and contractual matters affecting a unionized workplace
- Highly organized with excellent problem-solving and prioritization skills
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
