Executive Director of Finance
for headings: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. We need to parse the job description.
We need to extract sections: The description includes "Job Function Summary", "Generic Scope", "Custom Scope", "Department Overview", "Qualifications" (Required Qualifications, Preferred Qualifications, Required Education, Preferred Certifications). Also maybe "Responsibilities" could be derived from Job Function Summary and scopes. "Requirements" maybe from qualifications. "Skills" maybe from abilities listed.
We must not repeat job title. No Job ID etc. Remove boilerplate (cookie/navigation/legal/EEO etc). There's none.
We must preserve all substantive info. Not invent.
We need to decide which sections to include: Likely About the role (summary), Responsibilities (derived from Job Function Summary, Generic Scope, Custom Scope), Requirements (maybe qualifications), Qualifications (maybe education/certifications), Skills (abilities). Benefits, Pay, Schedule: none present, so omit those sections.
We must not create empty sections.
Thus produce something like:
About the role
... summary ...
Responsibilities
- ... list items ...
Requirements
- ... maybe required qualifications ...
Qualifications
- ... preferred qualifications, education, certifications ...
Skills
- ... abilities ...
- for any list of duties/requirements/benefits. The custom scope is prose, not a list. We could keep as
. But we could also split into bullet points if we treat each sentence as duty? Safer to keep as
for prose. However they said use
- for any list of duties/requirements/benefits. If not a list, use
. So we can keep custom scope as
. Department Overview: also prose. Qualifications: Required Qualifications list: many items separated by semicolons? Actually it's a sentence with semicolons. Could treat as list items. Let's split by semicolons. "Comprehensive knowledge of finance and budget policies, practices and systems; budgeting and reporting techniques; fund accounting; human resource planning; accounting and bookkeeping. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in a timely manner. Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels; ability to interact with diverse populations. Client services oriented; good listening, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Ability to multi-task. Strong work ethic, attention to detail, demonstrated success with consistent and timely follow through. Demonstrated, exceptional planning, problem solving and decision-making skills; demonstrated ability to effectively persuade and negotiate results in complex situations. At least 6 years of progressively responsible financial management experience, or equivalent experience, encompassing financial management, strategic planning and organizational development, clinical practice management, and human resources management. At least 5 years of experience as a lead/supervisor/manager." We could break each sentence into
- . But we need to preserve all detail; splitting is okay as long as we don't lose info. We'll produce
- each sentence.
Preferred Qualifications: list of items separated by periods? Actually sentences: "Knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources. Familiarity with campus and university systems, federal and staff funding agency requirements, campus internal audit rules and regulations, the campus business and finance bulletin, school and department clinical compensation plan, clinical practice rules and regulations, campus expenditure rules and regulations. Familiarity with policies and programmatic guidelines for ACGME training programs and associated funding."
We'll split sentences.
Required Education: "Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training."
Preferred Certifications: "Professional certification preferred."
Skills: abilities listed in Required Qualifications: ability to communicate, interpersonal skills, client services oriented, good listening, critical thinking, analytical skills, ability to multi-task, strong work ethic, attention to detail, demonstrated success with consistent and timely follow through, demonstrated exceptional planning, problem solving and decision-making skills, demonstrated ability to effectively persuade and negotiate results in complex situations. Also maybe ability to multi-task etc. We'll extract those.
But we already included many in Required Qualifications; we could still have Skills section separate but might duplicate. The instruction: Preserve ALL substantive information; do NOT invent or summarize away detail. Duplication is okay? Might be redundant but still preserving. However better to avoid duplication? Not required. We could put abilities under Skills and keep Required Qualifications as experience/knowledge. But the Required Qualifications includes abilities as well. To avoid duplication, we could split: Required Qualifications: knowledge, experience, education. Skills: abilities. Let's parse.
From Required Qualifications text, we can separate knowledge items (first part up to "accounting and bookkeeping.") and experience items (years). Then abilities items after that.
Let's extract:
Knowledge items:
- Comprehensive knowledge of finance and budget policies, practices and systems
- budgeting and reporting techniques
- fund accounting
- human resource planning
- accounting and bookkeeping
Experience items:
- At least 6 years of progressively responsible financial management experience, or equivalent experience, encompassing financial management, strategic planning and organizational development, clinical practice management, and human resources management.
- At least 5 years of experience as a lead/supervisor/manager.
Abilities items:
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in a timely manner.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels; ability to interact with diverse populations.
- Client services oriented; good listening, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, demonstrated success with consistent and timely follow through.
- Demonstrated, exceptional planning, problem solving and decision-making skills; demonstrated ability to effectively persuade and negotiate results in complex situations.
We'll put knowledge and experience under Requirements? Actually Requirements could be experience and knowledge. Skills separate.
Let's decide sections:
About the role: combine Job Function Summary + Generic Scope + Custom Scope + Department Overview? Might be too long. But we can put About the role as a brief summary: maybe Job Function Summary. But we need to preserve all substantive info; we can't omit Generic Scope etc. So we need to include them somewhere. Could put them under Responsibilities (duties). About the role could be a short paragraph summarizing role: maybe from Job Function Summary only. But then we would lose Generic Scope etc if not placed elsewhere. We'll place Generic Scope and Custom Scope under Responsibilities. Department Overview could be under About the role as context.
Thus:
About the role
[Department Overview]
Responsibilities
- [Job Function Summary]
- [Generic Scope]
- [Custom Scope]
inside
- ? Better to keep as
directly under responsibilities? The instruction: Use
- for any list of duties/requirements/benefits. If we have multiple duties, we can list each as
- . If a duty is a paragraph, it's okay to have
...
. We'll do that.
Thus:
