About the role
Participates in corporate, division, and region level strategic planning for all assigned areas. Oversees strategy and operational planning for Nurse Retention Strategy, Clinical Models, and Unit Culture. Operationalizes readiness and change management efforts for the Electronic Medical Record implementation across Clinical Services. Leads consultation efforts for Surgical New Builds, including operational plan design, development, resourcing, and opening. Collaborates with Nursing and other ancillary departments to manage and optimize patient care.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements initiatives, processes, and goals that align with campus strategies while supporting corporate system initiatives.
- Makes sure relevant outcomes are monitored and suggests process changes to ensure departments provide appropriate services for all stakeholders.
- Works closely with system and campus executives to craft and disseminate messages to ensure employee understanding and engagement.
- Promotes a safe environment for all stakeholders.
- Affirms compliance and provides evidence of performance with accreditation bodies and other regulatory requirements for assigned areas.
- Leads Nurse Retention, Clinical Models, Unit Culture, Epic Operations Change Management, and Surgical New Builds policy formulation and decision-making.
- Prepares, executes, and monitors departmental operating budgets to ensure appropriate staffing, professional development, space, supplies, and equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of clinical practices and processes, legal and regulatory requirements in healthcare, medical staff issues, performance improvement, patient safety and risk management principles.
- Expert analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication skills including the ability to influence in a collaborative manner, persuade teams, up to and including the executive level, to build consensus within and across stakeholder groups (high-level negotiation skills).
- Mastery of performance improvement methodology and tools.
- Analytical and managerial ability; motivational and team-building skills.
- Excellent facilitation skills in various PI methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, PDSA, etc.).
- Advanced ability to oversee multiple and varied projects with enthusiasm and prioritize workload with attention to detail.
- Strong organization skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information in understandable terms to all levels of staff.
- Effective computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Ability to work in a matrix-management environment to achieve organizational goals.
- Broad clinical nursing knowledge.
- Strong competency in personal leadership abilities.
- Ability to develop and mentor others to their optimum levels of skill and professionalism.
- Business and human resource skills as they relate to assigned areas of service.
- Ability to include evidence-based practice standards for care delivery in their area of specialty.
- Knowledge of all regulatory and professional standards that affect the operations in areas of responsibility.
- Knowledge of advanced statistical methods and tools.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards (CMS, OSHA, Specialty Standards).
