Role Overview

The Executive Director, Neuroscience Commercialization Communications, leads the development and execution of an integrated communications strategy that advances business priorities, strengthens reputation, and drives stakeholder engagement across the neuroscience therapeutic area.

This role serves as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, shaping the external environment, influencing decision-making, and ensuring alignment across global teams. The Executive Director is accountable for translating business strategy into impactful storytelling, delivering measurable outcomes, and positioning Bristol Myers Squibb as a leader in brain health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and evolve the integrated neuroscience communications strategy, aligning to business priorities and delivering measurable impact across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, translating business objectives into clear, compelling narratives and providing proactive counsel on opportunities and risks.
  • Oversee end-to-end communications across the product lifecycle, including launches, regulatory milestones, medical congresses, and key inflection points, ensuring global readiness and alignment.
  • Shape the external environment ahead of launch through market-shaping strategies for pipeline assets, integrating communications, policy, and access considerations to address barriers, elevate unmet need, and prepare for successful commercialization.
  • Develop and execute executive and thought leadership strategies to enhance the visibility, credibility, and influence of key leaders in alignment with enterprise priorities.
  • Drive enterprise reputation strategy for neuroscience, leveraging integrated media, digital, social, and stakeholder engagement to strengthen leadership positioning in brain health.
  • Define and operationalize impact measurement frameworks, linking communications to business outcomes and using insights to continuously optimize performance.
  • Lead therapeutic area specific global issues and reputation management, anticipating and mitigating risk while ensuring aligned, timely stakeholder engagement and messaging.
  • Oversee integrated editorial and content strategy, optimizing channels to effectively reach and engage key audiences.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, building capabilities and fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage budget and agency partnerships, ensuring disciplined stewardship and delivery against strategic priorities.

Role Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in brand or corporate communications within the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry, with expertise across strategic planning, issues management, executive and internal communications, thought leadership, brand/product communications, and digital/social media.
  • Proven ability to develop and lead integrated communications strategies aligned to business priorities, delivering measurable impact across complex, matrixed organizations; neuroscience experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success advising and influencing senior leadership, translating complex scientific and business topics into clear, compelling narratives that enable decision-making and drive engagement.
  • Strong business and industry acumen, including understanding of regulatory policy, R&D, pricing, access, and the broader healthcare ecosystem.
  • Experience shaping the external environment for pipeline assets, including integrating communications with policy, access, and stakeholder engagement strategies to support disease awareness, reduce barriers, and prepare for commercialization.
  • Exceptional collaboration and stakeholder leadership, with a track record of partnering across Corporate Affairs and cross-functional teams to align and scale communications strategies.
  • Established leader of high-performing teams, with experience developing talent, prioritizing work, and driving results in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Outstanding communication and storytelling capabilities, with superior writing, presentation, and facilitation skills and the ability to influence diverse audiences.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complexity, operate with agility, and deliver under pressure.
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Communications or related field preferred); advanced degree a plus.
