The Executive Director will lead and advance the priorities established by the NCSEA Board of Directors, serving as the association's chief executive. This role requires effective management experience, fiscal responsibility, and success working with associations, industry partners, stakeholder groups, and policymakers on behalf of the child support community. The Executive Director partners with the NCSEA Board to advance the association's mission, execute its strategic plan, and deliver exceptional value to members, while also stewarding the NCSEA account within MCI's full-service management portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Revenue Growth:
    • Develop, in partnership with the NCSEA Board and staff, an overall resource development plan to generate program and operational funding.
    • Oversee the Corporate Partner program, maintaining relationships, creating benefits, and sustaining growth.
    • Network with current and prospective corporate partners and sponsors at industry events to enhance engagement and expand revenue opportunities.
    • Actively solicit new corporate partnerships and sponsorships aligned with NCSEA’s mission.
    • Collaborate with Membership and relevant committees to strengthen the value proposition for members and partners.
  • Governance, Management, and Administration:
    • Monitor day-to-day delivery of programs and services to maintain or improve quality.
    • Serve as chief staff executive with responsibility for staff management and oversight.
    • Assist the NCSEA Board in developing and implementing the Strategic Plan, Annual Business Plan, and policies.
    • Support the Board by collaborating with officers, committee chairs, and providing routine reports and data.
    • Facilitate NCSEA’s link with research to promote program goals.
    • Serve as liaison with organizations including ERICSA, NCSL, NTCSA, NATCSD, NCCSD, WICSEC, OCSE, and APHSA.
    • Prepare the Board for the election process, including communication and database management.
    • Ensure the NCSEA website content is current and accurately represents the association.
  • Advocacy and Education:
    • Lead conference planning for in-person and virtual events, including third-party contracting and onsite coordination.
    • Work with NCSEA’s legislative advocate to implement policy recommendations and actions.
    • Coordinate efforts to impact and inform policy and legislation at federal, local, and international levels.
  • Fiscal:
    • Provide primary oversight of NCSEA’s budget, ensuring alignment with the Strategic and Annual Business Plans.
    • Manage finances, budgets, and procedures in coordination with the Treasurer and Finance Committee.
    • Oversee administration of funds and monitor cash flow.
    • Ensure comprehensive financial reports are provided to the Finance Committee and Board.
  • Account Management & Partnership Stewardship (MCI):
    • Ensure a strong, productive, and mutually beneficial relationship between NCSEA and MCI USA.
    • Manage NCSEA resources in alignment with contracted scope, staffing, and financial objectives.
    • Partner with MCI leadership to monitor account performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Elevate potential scope changes, service-level concerns, or risks, collaborating on solutions.
    • Maintain awareness of MCI capabilities to enhance member value and organizational effectiveness.
  • Staff Leadership:
    • Provide leadership and oversight of the NCSEA-designated staff team, fostering a high-performing culture.
    • Support talent management efforts including recruitment, onboarding, coaching, and professional development.
    • Establish clear goals, performance expectations, and accountability measures.
    • Participate in a 360-degree feedback process to strengthen leadership and team performance.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive association management experience.
  • Demonstrated management experience in an association or non-profit organization.
  • Ability to engage participation and generate passion for the association’s work.
  • Association Management Company (AMC) experience is preferred.

  • Proficiency with the full Microsoft Office suite.

Additional Requirements

Occasional evening and weekend work, with domestic travel approximately 3 to 5 trips per year, including NCSEA’s Leadership Symposium and Public Policy Summit.

Pay

$90,000–95,000 annually, based on relevant experience and skills.
