About the role

406 Pride is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for LGBTQ+ rights and fostering a supportive community in Montana. Our mission is to promote equality, inclusivity, and acceptance through education, advocacy, and community building. 406 Pride operates an LGBTQ+ Resource Center in downtown Billings and hosts the annual Billings Pride festival and parade.

The Executive Director of 406 Pride is responsible for overall administration and management of 406 Pride, including events, fundraising, and the operation of the Resource Center. This individual will work closely with the Board of Directors to advance the mission and vision of 406 Pride, ensuring effective management of all organizational aspects. This position will start at 15 hours per week. 406 Pride can guarantee funding support at this level for two years. Additional hours are largely contingent on successful fundraising.

Responsibilities

  • Board Management and Recruitment: Serve as an ex officio member of the Board; assist in board development, recruitment, and orientation of new members; provide support and guidance to board committees.
  • Fund Development and Events: Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support organizational goals; identify and cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and funding agencies; plan and oversee fundraising events and campaigns.
  • Volunteer Recruitment and Management: Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to support organizational activities and the operation of the 406 Pride Resource Center; maintain volunteer records and recognize volunteer contributions.
  • Community Engagement: Serve as a spokesperson for 406 Pride, representing the organization to stakeholders, media, and the public; cultivate relationships with community partners, government officials, and other nonprofit organizations; foster a positive public image and increase visibility of 406 Pride's initiatives and impact.
  • Public Relations and Marketing: Develop and implement a strategic communications plan to enhance awareness of 406 Pride's mission and programs; contribute to marketing efforts, including social media, website content, and promotional materials.
  • Programming Development and Implementation: Collaborate with board members and community stakeholders to develop and implement programs that align with 406 Pride's mission and strategic objectives; monitor program outcomes and evaluate effectiveness to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, public administration, social sciences, or related field (Master's degree preferred); equivalent combinations of experience and education will be considered.
  • Management experience in a nonprofit organization, including board relations, volunteer management, grantwriting and deliverables, and fundraising.
  • Strong leadership abilities with proven success in strategic planning, organizational management, and team building.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and media relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders, particularly within the LGBTQ+ community and unhoused populations.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace suite, donor management software, and social media platforms.

Pay

Salary range of $22–$25 hourly, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.
