Executive Director, Compass to Care
About the role
Compass to Care is seeking an inspiring and strategic Executive Director to lead the trusted nationwide 501(c)(3) organization in removing transportation barriers for children with cancer. Founded from the personal experience of childhood cancer survivor Michelle Ernsdorff-May, Compass to Care ensures that no child misses life-saving treatment because their family cannot afford the journey. Since 2010, the organization has grown into a nationally recognized nonprofit, partnering with hospitals and families across the United States to fund transportation expenses—including gas, parking, rideshare, airfare, and lodging—so children can access critical treatment and clinical trials.
Today, Compass to Care serves more than 367 children annually and is poised for its next chapter of growth. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will serve as the organization's chief executive, fundraiser, and ambassador, leading a small, talented team while building on the organization's strong foundation and founder's legacy. This is a unique opportunity to guide a respected national nonprofit through a leadership transition, strengthen organizational capacity, expand strategic partnerships, and increase philanthropic support to grow both revenue and impact.
