About the Role

Overseeing all of Inpatient/Outpatient Social Work, Case Management, Spiritual Care, and Rehab at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, the largest hospital in Missouri and a top-ranked facility by U.S. News & World Report. The hospital's staff includes full-time academic faculty and community physicians from Washington University School of Medicine, supported by residents, interns, fellows, and other medical professionals. Barnes-Jewish Hospital is the first adult hospital in Missouri certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Role Purpose

Selects, orients, monitors, assigns projects, counsels, problem-solves, and leads employees under their jurisdiction. Practices in accordance with the Missouri Nurse Practice Act and HSO policies and standards of care. Leads and directs the coordination of patient care at the most appropriate location, level, and time.

Responsibilities

  • Manages individuals including onboarding, hiring, training, workload management, and performance evaluations; conducts professional development plans as needed.
  • Ensures the productivity and actions of the team meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue, and/or expense budgets; responds to business changes affecting budget goals.
  • Monitors, controls, and evaluates all resources utilized in Case Management, Social Services, and Congestive Heart Failure Disease Management Departments.
  • Directs the extension of care coordination in the inpatient setting.
  • Provides designated service lines and physicians with timely data, assists in data analysis, and identifies areas for administrative focus.
  • Oversees the care of patients referred to the Hospitalist Service to ensure timely hospital discharge and continuous communication with Primary Care Physicians, patients, families, specialists, hospital departments, and administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5-10 years of experience
  • 5-10 years of supervisor experience
  • RN licensure and certification
