This Executive Director is a strategic leader for multiple units that support the university in providing essential services to the campus community—Campus Dining Services, Parking and Transportation Services, University of Missouri Stores, Missouri Student Unions, A.L. Gustin Golf Course, Show Me State Games, and other services. This position acts as a strategic partner with various campus leaders and is responsible for leadership, oversight, advice, and management of these units, which include about 185 full-time employees, 800 part-time and student employees, and operating budgets totaling over $85M. The Executive Director will also be a member of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Business Services leadership team, contributing to projects, processes, and policies with impact beyond their direct units.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain oversight for and inspire continuous improvement among the units for which the position is responsible.
  • Build an in-depth understanding of how each unit operates to ensure alignment with university priorities and high performance in their field.
  • Maintain working knowledge of how each unit impacts partners and collaborators to maximize mutual benefit.
  • Ensure operations drive net revenues to sustain their operations while delivering excellent service to the campus community.
  • Collaborate with the President’s office, Provost, Research, Finance, Facilities, and Advancement as appropriate.
  • Participate in planning, development, analysis, and implementation of projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Convene campus-wide discussions on issues and opportunities affecting auxiliary units of the university.
  • Participate in policy development and review, bringing the lens of auxiliary operations to the process.
  • Engage in other projects and initiatives assigned by the Vice Chancellor.
  • Support additional duties and responsibilities to advance the mission and priorities of the University of Missouri.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in a relevant area and 10 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired, or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant area and 12 years of experience.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability in strategically leading professionals and teams.
  • Ability to understand complex business and financial information and use it to inform decision-making.
  • Experience working collaboratively with leaders in other areas while maintaining the overall objectives of a complex organization.
  • A track record of balancing collaboration and excellence while maintaining financial sustainability.
  • Familiarity with higher education systems and policies.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Central Time, with occasional weekend and evening hours.

Pay

Salary range: $175,000–$225,000 per year.
